The Executive Board of the B.A.S.T. (Belgian Association of Surgical Trainees) would like to draw your attention to our cooperation with the International College for Surgeons. This International College of Surgeons (I.C.S.) is a global organisation dedicated to bringing together surgeons and surgical specialists of all nations, races, and creeds to promote surgical excellence for the benefit of all of mankind and to foster fellowship worldwide. It has been founded in 1935 and is now composed of approximately 8,000 general surgeons and surgical specialists from at about 112 countries. All information can be found on their website.
In 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 the Belgian Section of the I.C.S. together with the B.A.S.T., organised a joined-session during the Belgian Surgical Week in Ostend. All five times it has been a huge success. To introduce all surgical trainees to the B.S.I.C.S. subscription is free during the first year ! If you would like to receive the accompanying scientific journal 'International Surgery' you do have to pay the Junior Membership fee of €45,00. Join the B.S.I.C.S. today !
On the other hand, we also would like to mention our renewed and up-to-date website. Here you can find and read all the necessary information for surgical trainees. Everything you would like to know about your legal position, upcoming events of the B.A.S.T and all other events in general, questions of the surgical exams for second and sixth year trainees and interesting links are available on this website.
If you are interested in the B.A.S.T. and the goals we try to obtain, you can always visit one of our meetings and perhaps join the Board of the B.A.S.T.
